There are so many stars who are out these days. Neil Patrick Harris ("Doogie Howser"), Rosie, Ellen Degeneres, Lance Bass, just to name a few. There are even more who I'd call 'stealth out'. They're under the radar out. They'd never deny they were gay. They never hide their partners from the public. Nor do they announce they're gay on live TV. So if they're so close to being out why aren't they? I assume it's that no one ever asked them.
I got the idea for 'stealth out' when I was having dinner with some industry queen friends of mine. You know, makeup artists, hairstylists, and personal assistants to the stars. The kind of people you really wouldn't want to piss off if wanna remain 'stealth out'.
For many years Rosie O'Donnell was the epitome of that term. She never hid the fact that she was gay from her staff. When she met Kelly, she'd invite her to her dressing room on many occasions. Everyone in the industry knew she was gay. But she never officially outed herself. She was stealth. Even on The View, Rosie admitted, "I was never really in the closet. It's just that those were different times. There weren't bloggers trying to find out about your personal life."
So, after discussing with my friends the industry queens, here's my list of 'stealth out' gays...
